It took some time to assembled all the rebels, a task made all the more complicated by their lack of discipline. Beverly had intended to have all the men form up by companies, but in the end they just ended up in one large mass of people, standing about in wonderment at the sight of this young woman.

"I am Princess Bronwyn," the young woman began, "of the Royal house of King Halfan."

The crowd grew quiet at the mention of their late king.

Bronwyn paused and Beverly could see the sweat breaking out on the brow of the princess.

"I have come here today to give you hope," the young woman continued. "Hope that you will someday regain that which you have lost."

The crowd looked at her with expectation.

"I know that you have suffered, as have we all." Bronwyn winced, knowing she was losing them. "But I give you my word that I shall not rest until Lord Hollis and his cronies have been driven from the field and the true bloodline restored to its rightful place on the throne."

She took a breath, then plunged onward. "Come with me, and together we shall defeat this menace to the great land we call home. Let us march into Norland and reclaim that which is rightfully ours!"

The rebels let out a cheer which seemed to please the young woman. She held her fist in the air. "To victory!" she called.

"To Victory," they echoed, though to Beverly's ears they were not overly enthusiastic.

Bronwyn turned her horse about, riding over to where Beverly sat astride Lightning.

"Make me an army," she commanded. "An army the likes of which has never been seen before."

"They are but few in number," said Beverly.

"Yes, but their numbers will grow as we deliver defeat to our enemies. Do this for me, Dame Beverly, and when the crown is restored I shall see to it that you are richly rewarded."

The knight felt herself drawn in by the intense gaze. "I shall do all I can, Your Highness, I promise you."
